The numbers 0 and 1 have special significance in computer science as the basic unit of all information. But to us they contain a more important meaning of making a leap into the exciting world of software engineering. The idea for CS 0to1 was born out of the concept of office hours. In an undergraduate computer science program, all instructors offer ‘office hours’ as an opportunity for students to seek help with assignments or improve their understanding of the subject. With more and more high quality online computer science content, we realized there was an opportunity to provide office hours to ambitious high school students who would otherwise not have the resources to learn such material. We seek to partner with schools across the country by matching high quality computer science instructors to students interested in learning topics from basic programming to advanced concepts such as AI and web development. Ultimately, we hope to provide a pipeline for industry opportunities by directly partnering with employers and placing our students in jobs and internships. By providing a true end to end platform for software engineering, we seek to help our students make the leap from 0 to 1.
